When staying at our All Inclusive Caribbean Resorts you get what you pay for. So, what about tipping in the Caribbean?
It is customary to tip in Mexico, and in most countries in Latin America, and tipping is expected in many situations though it is generally not required. Keep in mind that most of the people working in Mexico’s service industries rely on tips to earn a living wage.
Although the Catalonia Staff members get paid for their work, and tipping is not necessary since service is included in the price you pay upfront, guests know that our team does it’s best to give an outstanding service, so if you feel like, it’s a good idea to show your appreciation by giving a tip.
If arriving in Mexico without Mexican currency, pesos can easily be obtained at ATM’s or Money Exchange booths at our Resorts. US dollars are happily welcomed by the Staff, too.
Now, the big question: How much should you tip in Mexico?
If you stay with us and decide to visit places out of the Resorts like Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras or Tulum, the “standard tipping rules” are:
- 13-15% of the total check for a good service. (It’s their job, but some are really committed to it).
- 15-20% for an outstanding service. (Yes, you may get it!)
As for All Inclusive Resorts, guests like to carry some extra bucks and tip the waiters, bartenders, housekeepers and bellboys from time to time, as the Staff is set and ready to give them the best vacation experience of their lives.
