From food to history to beautiful parks and Amsterdam\u2019s famous eco-friendly mode of transport, the bicycle, <strong>here is our Amsterdam what to do guide.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Day 1<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Amsterdam is easily seen on foot, on its excellent public transport system or even by bike<\/strong>, just like the locals get around. If you are arriving from Amsterdam airport into Amsterdam Central train station, the first thing that will strike you will be the rows upon rows of bikes parked outside the station.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Explore the Jordaan area<\/strong>, once a working class Jewish neighbourhood, it\u2019s now home to some fantastic restaurants and hipster bars yet it maintains its old fashioned feel, with courtyards hidden away in its labyrinth of streets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20217 alignnone\" src=\"\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/anne-frank-museum.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"479\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enjoy a walk along the canal here and head to <strong>Anne Frank\u2019s House<\/strong> for an insight into the experiences of Anne Frank and her family during World War Two. You can even climb up into the attic room they hid in and imagine for yourself how life would have been during the two years they lived there.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visit the Tulip Museum<\/strong> close to the Anne Frank House for an hour of tulip history, exhibits and the opportunity to take some authentic Dutch tulips home with you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Day 2<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Bloemenmarkt.<\/strong> Amsterdam for couples means you have to start the day as you finished the first one &#8211; with more flowers! The world\u2019s only floating flower market, the Bloemenmarkt is a colourful and beautifully scented place to visit. You can buy flowers or bulbs to take home as a souvenir from your stay.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get up early and go to the Rijksmuseum<\/strong> which is quieter between 9 and 11 a.m. You\u2019ll need to spend several hours here to get the full experience with works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Isra\u00ebls and a delightful dolls\u2019 house collection from the 17th century when dolls\u2019 houses were owned by wealthy ladies and weren\u2019t toys for children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-20216 size-large\" src=\"\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/amsterdam-vondelpark-620x413.jpg\" alt=\"People walking through Vondelpark\" width=\"620\" height=\"413\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Walk the small distance to the Vondel Park.<\/strong> Once you\u2019ve had your fix of art, pick up some coffee and picnic goodies. This area of lush green space is full of walkways, flower gardens and has concerts in summer.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Head to the Van Gogh Museum<\/strong>. Now that you\u2019ve relaxed a little and you\u2019ve got your strength back,\u00a0 you can see his world famous works of art such as Sunflowers, all under one roof.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Day 3<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Take a wander around the Leidseplein, or Leiden Square<\/strong> which has some fantastic restaurants and bars for all tastes and budgets and is close to the main shopping area. Built on a graveyard, the whole of the floor of this church is made up of gravestones.
