Best things to do on a rainy day in Cancun

We the locals have always said that the climate in the Caribbean is quite changeable, imagine you are on the beach sunbathing, you just breathe the sea when suddenly, a huge gray cloud drops its water over the whole beach, sometimes that happens in less than 20 minutes, but there are other days when the weather gets sad and it rains all day, what do you do in these cases?

If you are at the hotel, the truth is that we recommend you not to be alarmed, enjoy the fresh climate and let yourself be surprised by the ingenious activities that the animation team has for you. They usually concentrate in the lobby or in the palapa closest to the swimming pool and beach; if you come to the lobby, have a drink and meet new friends, it is a good time to chat without being in a hurry. There are other guests who prefer to be more calm and relaxed, so they decide to stay in their room watching TV or have a look at the social networks, remember that the internet is free and if you are a Privileged guest, you will have the great benefit of ordering room service at no extra cost.

Many people also prefer to leave the hotel, in that case, in Cancun there are several options to make, here we list them:

Cancun Interactive Aquarium

Located in La Isla Cancun Shopping Village, in Kukulkan Boulevard. A different place to learn and enjoy, either with family or friends. Here you can find a diversity of marine species such as invertebrates, sea urchins and starfish, or reptiles such as turtles. You will also find fishes like the famous palette surgeon, yellow surgeon, sail surgeon and mammals like the dolphin or the sea lion, among other species that you cannot miss. The entrance fee is 15USD per visitor, open daily from 9am to 8pm. If you visit their official website you will find more activities to do and helpful information.

Cancun Wax Museum

Also at La Isla, is the Wax Museum, here you can take a selfie with more than 100 emblematic figures of the culture and the show business of Mexico and the rest of the world. We invite you to visit their official website to buy your tickets since they even offer a combo for this attraction and the Aquarium, you decide what attracts you most to visit.

Mayan Museum of Cancun

In the same hotel zone is the Mayan Museum of Cancun, if you are interested in learning more about the culture of the region will be your best option because it houses one of the most significant archaeological collections of the Mayan culture in the country, as not only include the most relevant pieces of the State of Quintana Roo, but a selection of emblematic pieces of the sites of Palenque, Chichen Itza, and Comalcalco, among other sites represented. This site is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9AM to 6PM and access costs $80MXN, there is accessibility for people with special abilities, it is also recommended to wear comfortable shoes.

Mercado 28

And on the other side of the hotel zone, Mercado 28 is ideal to find your Mexican souvenir and spend a rainy afternoon (it closes at 8pm) since this place is indoor. The prices you will find here are more accessible than in the Hotel Zone and there will also be more variety. Don’t worry about lunch time as it has some restaurants so you can continue enjoying the delicious cuisine until the last minute.
