Todo muy bien pero los camareros en todos los restaurantes podrían estar más atentos a las necesidades de los huéspedes. Nos costaba que nos trajeran agua, café o bebestibles. Frecuentemente hablaban entre ellos, cantaban para sí mismos y se comprende que es parte de la experiencia pero siempre y cuando la interacción sea con el huésped y que no interfiera con el servicio o se convierta en una forma de ignorar al cliente.

Decent Break
Hotel seems to be trying to edge towards the higher end of the market and leaving there every day customers behind. Stayed 9 years ago and a few changes more restaurants have been added and more of the top range rooms seem to have been added. The other rooms are definitely in need of an upgrade getting a bit tired also the main pool with swim up bar needs some work peeling paint and missing tiles lets it down. Food in restaurants although very tasty could do with been hotter mostly like warm at best service usually very good.

Had an amazing vacation. There was some problems with rooms when we first arrived but front desk was more then happy and helpful to change our rooms. Food was amazing could be a little more cooked and warmer but overall very good .

Enjoyable stay
Overall we enjoyed our two weeks. A couple of the restaurants were not very good as food cold and service bad. Restaurants on the Royale side were much better. Room housekeeping was good, although sons room was not always cleaned or supplies/towels not topped up. Could not fault all the staff were excellent

The staff work tirelessly, from being greeted upon arrival with a cold drink after a long day travelling, to the gardeners who keep the grounds immaculate. Restaurant staff always greet you very warmly. The new wristband door key are a fantastic addition- no more leaving the room saying “do you have the key?” The app for the booking of the restaurant reservations is brilliant and super easy to use. Food in majority of the restaurants was good. In a few it was excellent…….and in a couple sadly fell very short of the mark ! What absolutely perplexes us is you eat your starter and then the servers comes to take your plate away and places your DIRTY cutlery back down for you to eat your main course - we found this utterly baffling for a “five star” hotel - surely there should be two sets of cutlery at each place OR if your cutlery is removed (which it should be !) then you are automatically given a clean set ……….. is this just a Dominican Republic thing as we’ve eaten all over the world from 5* establishments to small local cafes and never came across this that you are expected to eat your starter and main with the same set of cutlery and I GENUINELY would like this explained to me? The room we were in was looking extremely tired - the bathroom seemed to be held together with silicone !!!! Definitely rooms are needing an overhaul. Clearly state’s bathrobes and slippers are supplied - none were in our room- I asked at reception for these and they were delivered to the room within an hour HOWEVER it took us THREE DAYS to get belts/ties to hold the bathrobes closed! On our day of check out, this is 12noon ….. TWICE the cleaner came to the room wanting us out - we had to explain to her TWICE we had to room until noon and clearly she was not happy with this, so I feel this needs to be addressed with your cleaning staff - it’s the little things that can have such a negative effect ! Oh and when it’s “wine tasting” night - please allow guests to taste the wine - on the two Wednesday evenings the guy just stood there, absolutely no interaction in asking ANYONE if they wanted to sample any wine - we did ask the second week and he wasn’t happy and refused to open a bottle thst we wanted to try - what he offered us instead couldn’t have amounted to more that 10ml in each glass - if you are going to do a wine tasting please ensure he interacts with guests and allows them to sample the wines that are on show, otherwise it’s a waste of time !!

Excellent but could be better
This was my third stay after an amazing visit back in 2018 that has been rebooked several times since 2020. Get the bad out the way first. Our check in experience was not good. No welcome drink offered. It took us over 30 minutes to get checked in and get to the room which wasn’t great after a 9 hour flight. We upgraded to the premium suite and I don’t understand why they can’t upgrade all the superior suites to this standard. All it is is fresh flooring and new bathroom and it totally brings the rooms up to date. Our room requests were unable to be honoured. I’d asked Floor high floor (hate high heel walkers above me) and pool side (like a shaded room on an afternoon). We got the top floor but the balcony was right in the sun in the late afternoon so we barely used it. The pools need serious TLC. They are very worn and need sorting as do not look good. Also the infinity pool needs a refresh as has never been done since it was built and the paving is very uneven and worn. The only other complaint really was that they were only just starting repairs as we arrived despite it being nearly two months prior. The lack of a proper beach bar I really missed especially on evenings. Now the good. The staff in the hotel are simply the thing that put it on another level. Without them it would be a very average hotel. So many friendly smile and friendly staff that by the end of our stay made us feel like friends. They really are a treasure. The food we had almost everywhere was very good and we never went hungry ever. The premium suite was lovely and I hope they give all suites the same upgrade asap. The new bathroom really was lovely to use the lighter flooring really made the whole room much brighter. Housekeeping was excellent and always kept our room sparkling. We only had a couple of meals we didn’t it like which in two weeks I think is excellent. We had a fantastic 14 night stay, the weather was great and the hotel really did deliver. The complaints I made did detract but not enough to stop me returning especially as I know they do there best to try and improve based on all feedback.

This was our 3rd time at the resort and loved everything about it. From the resort itself to the beautiful people who made our stay perfect. Will definitely be coming there every time we visit the Dominican Republic.

Moneys worth
Overall I got what I paid for. Hotel was clean, room cleaned twice a day, and staff friendly . Room had a musty smell to it. Did not get welcome drink upon check in like everyone else in line ahead of me. Was then told by front desk worker it was on the way, he called someone, checked me in, and drink never came and he did not make any more mention of the drink. Food at specialty restaurants was just okay, buffet food much better. Beach was nice, alot of seawood which is out of the hotels control, but they did a good job of constantly removing seaweed.

Great place to vacation!
My wife and I had a great 5 day vacation at the Catalonia Royal Bavaro. The resort had alot of options for food, entertainment and fun. Be careful of the people trying to sale you things on the beach ⛱️ We had a great time figuring out our favorite restaurants and bars to go to everyday (after 5 days we were regulars ) we arrived on a Monday and I was really chill during the week and when the weekend came, we noticed longer lines where there usually weren't lines at all. The vibe definitely changed as we could see it getting more and more crowded, good thing we were leaving on Saturday lol. Give this resort a try and be prepared for mosquitoes they are vicious

Great trip.
Had a great time at the Catalonia Royal. From the time we walked in till we left, we had a smile on our faces. The food was above average to excellent. The drinks menu was great with only one that was not so much. the staff was friendly and helpful. It was very nice that on checkout day that we still had use of the property till we left. Looking forward to returning next year.

Once transferred to the Royal from the Catalonia, we had an excellent time. The hotel is exactly what we wanted from a holiday, relaxing, relatively quiet, excellent food and drink, very friendly staff, helpful reception, very clean, nice rooms, easy booking system for restaurants, not overly busy, lovely pool areas. The only complaint is the condition of the sea, something which maybe beyond the control of the hotel. It was disappointing not to be able to swim due to it’s condition.

Great resort and experience. Would like to had more Latin music and dancing offered at both adult only and family resorts. Music was a variety and good, however we came to experience the Dominican Republic, not American music. Music stoped at 9:40, and at least DJ or dance music could have gone longer.

Staff were amazing everyone said good morning and greeted us with a smile. Food was lovely, we did a la carte for 9 of our 10 day stay. A couple of suggestions would be, bug killers in rooms and inside entertainment during rainy days. Also photographs were expensive at $20 for one print we did not purchase many!

There was no maps, menus etc given at checkin. We were lost for 2 days with no help. I sat on the aluminum lantern and it was very weak. Fell hit my head. They were very attentive, but need do not sit on signs.
