Nice hotel that could do with a bit of a refurb. Air conditioning as opposed to fans which are noisy and drafty. Food needs to be better presented as not always hot ir replenished regularly. Pool areas could be tidier especially in the morning after previous day. Curtains in bedroom need replacing

Hotel with great food, staff & facilities

Just got back from a fab week at Catalonia del Mar. Weather was great & the hotel couldn't do enough for you. All the staff from Reception, Restaurants & housekeeping we're friendly. Food good choice of food, see you for another visit asap.

Luvly hotel , brilliant setting

Luvd the hotel & area , there was one thing that should be considered & that’s some sort of food offered for people with early checkouts . Perhaps a breakfast box because we had paid for breakfast on the day of our departure but weren’t able to get it because of our earlier than 8 am checkout .

Great Hotel and Location

We were very pleased with the hotel. The staff in all area’s were friendly and helpful. Plenty of choices in the restaurant, you would be hard to please if you couldn’t find anything to eat. The variety was excellent fish and meat always served.

Catalonia del Mar Cala Bona stay May 2024

Overall could not fault the location, staff and cleanliness of this hotel. I do personally feel that the job of the cleaners is made more difficult as there are areas that need a new paint job. The heavy rains at times chipped loose paint off surfaces eg on terrace and creates an unnecessary mess and extra work for staff. White paint in many areas was tired and discoloured in appearance. This to me would warrant excellent in each category rather than very good. Going forward walk in showers would be beneficial as Cala Bona is a resort that caters predominantly for older patrons. Stepping in and out of baths is a struggle for some patrons with mobility issues.

Relaxed stay

A perfectly situated hotel with tasteful coastal deco. All staff and very friendly and helpful. There are some minor issues with cleanliness and wear and tear in the rooms (cracked paint and dusty corners) but this didn’t impact my comfort in my room. The pool area and gym doesn’t appear to be cleaned regularly as there was items of rubbish lying in both areas which I noticed were there for several days. The indoor pool also has some patches of mould/algae around the edges. Furthermore housekeeping consisted of my bed being made some days and nothing more (coffee and milk wasn’t replenished and used cups weren’t replaced). Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel and the positives outweighed the negatives by far.

Lovely weekend away

We stay here a couple of times a year for the weekend, as we live on the other side of the island. It's a fantastic location for the harbour and local restaurants and bars. The hotel provides everything we need for a weekend and more.

Much needed break

First 6 days of our stay (on b&b basis) were good after that the service dropped off dramatically. The choices in the restaurant at breakfast were a lot poorer. I did raise this with the restaurant supervisor / manager but he got quite confrontational. The nightly entertainment stopped around this time.

Enjoyable stay

Overall very enjoyable. The restaurant and household team very efficient, polite and smiling. Reception and management team didn’t smile or engage. Unlike the 5 other Catalonia Hotels we stayed. Management team smoking by the back door ( between the two hotel buildings ), main entrance as no vehicle access at front. As a non-smoker, I do not like being exposed to passive smoking.

A good hotel needs attention

A good hotel on the surface but when you have been here a few days you start to see little things that could be better like shabbiness of paint decor , doors a bit tatty paint stains on balcony floor and railings .The rooms are overall clean and cleaner came every day fresh milk and coffee replenished daily.We stayed b&b always something to eat sometimes a bit warm/cold .I have stayed in cala bona on numerous occasions 1st time at Catalonia del mar don't think we would return to this hotel again for what we paid it should have been better.Dont let all the negative reviews put you off staying here,if you just want to lounge by the pool and eat half board you'll be ok

Great break

Great hotel , the rooms are very comfortable and cleaned every day. The pool area is clean with plenty of lounges and has a nice pool bar offering a good range of drinks and food. The only criticism is that the food offered at breakfast and evening meal should be a lot hotter than it is ( this needs to be addressed by the management )

Nice stay

A nice stay for my first solo trip away. Staff were nice and friendly. Only thing I didn’t particularly like was that there was nowhere to refill my water bottle and the gym was small and cold.

Excellent 2 night staycation

We love this hotel and enjoy coming a couple of times a year. It's in a great location and offers everything you need. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is always good, although this time we found it not as enjoyable as in the past. Very busy and noisy, but that was down to the amount of guests. The same can be said about the pool area.

Lovely hotel in a fabulous location overlooking the harbour. Friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Room with panoramic terrace was extremely comfortable and kept very clean by staff. Highly recommend this hotel.
