Did you know that the Catalonia Ramblas hotel is located in a group of buildings that used to house the offices of the newspaper La Vanguardia? It was designed and built in 1903 by the architect Josep Majó Ribas, specifically to house the headquarters of the Barcelona newspaper. They worked here until 2004, when we completely remodeled it to become our Catalonia Ramblas hotel, inaugurated in 2006.
It is the only modernist building on Pelai street, which is why it undoubtedly draws the attention of all passers-by. The fully restored façade is especially attractive for its green-themed sgraffito. If you look up, you will see that the balconies still have their wrought iron railings and that the building is crowned with four merlons combined with decorative trellis.
The hotel reception will welcome you with a wooden design that continues to the Gastrobar, where you can eat or have a drink next to the spacious common areas. If you are a lover of good food, the Catalonia Ramblas hotel has a lot to offer you. The Pelai restaurant is an intimate space for a maximum of 50 diners in elegant surroundings. Our gastronomic proposal is based on traditional Catalan cuisine. If you prefer international food, Pelai offers a brunch menu every day until 1:00 p.m. with prior reservation.
