Hotels in Barcelona

Barcelona has so many interesting places of cultural value that seeing them all and taking in the details is a challenge.

We have put together a selection of must-see places to get the most out of your time in a hotel in Barcelona to learn the essence of the city:

Barrio Gótico and Las Ramblas: wandering past the flower stalls, mime shows and street theatre on Las Ramblas de Barcelona is an experience in itself! The route includes the Boquería Market and Liceu Theatre and then continues to the Barrio Gótico neighbourhood with all the charm of medieval Barcelona.

The Sagrada Familia, visible from almost any point in the centre of the city, is one of the most famous landmarks. Unmistakeable and unfinished, work began in 1882 under the leading representative of Catalan Modernism, Antonio Gaudí. The Sagrada Familia serves as the starting point for a route around Modernist Barcelona, the highlights of which include La Pedrera, Casa Batlló and Palau de la Música. The visit ends at Parque Güell, a 17-hectare park with a pure Modernist essence.

The Tibidabo and Montjuic neighbourhoods afford privileged panoramic views across the city and are lovely and well cared-for city parks in addition to being the highest points in Barcelona. At Montjuic you can also see some of the city's finest museums, Poble Espanyol and the sports facilities from the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

Hotel terraces and pools: visiting a hotel terrace is a pleasure and you can have a delicious cocktail while admiring the views and the pool. The Catalonia Hotels & Resorts hotel you stay at lets you enjoy the terraces and pools open from May to October.

Looking for something good to eat in Barcelona? No visit will be complete with trying a hearty escudella or carn d’olla stew in winter, botifarra sausage with white beans or arroz a la cazuela rice. For dessert, there’s crème caramel and mel i mató (honey and soft cheese), along with a white wine from one of the hundreds of local wineries. You will find a magnificent selection of products at our hotels in Barcelona so you can enjoy Catalan cuisine. And, in the evening, some hotels in Barcelona organise free snacks for guests and wine time to enjoy a good tipple from the local area.
