Hotels in Riviera Maya

What to do in Riviera Maya In addition to enjoying the 4 and 5 star all-inclusive hotels, Riviera Maya has a lot to show you. You’ll have a great time in your hotel, because it has everything you need to meet your expectations of a high-end resort just for adults, or you have the option for families and children to make your stay in Mexico memorable....Can you picture yourself lying on a Balinese bed in front of a beautiful beach, sipping a cocktail made exclusively for you?

If you fancy leaving the hotel, which we recommend because Riviera Maya has stunning scenery, we have some top tips. Whether you're here for a long weekend or a more extensive holiday you can get to know the area and choose your favourite hotel in Riviera Maya.

The ruins at Tulum, which in Mayan means ‘wall’, are one of the most famous places to see in Riviera Maya. The remains stand at the shore of the Caribbean inside a national park bathed by transparent water. West of Tulum are the ruins of Cobá, also of important value and beauty as a pre-Columbian Mayan jewel. Continuing with archaeological remains is the World Heritage Site of Chichén Itzá, described as a place of worship and one of the main sites preserved in a fairly good condition.

In the north is Puerto Morelos, home to the Parque Nacional Arrecife national park. This natural barrier lets you practice water sports like diving and windsurfing.

The busiest and most cosmopolitan area is Playa del Carmen, close to our hotels in Riviera Maya, 20 km away. Its streets are famous for shopping and it's known for its urban beaches. You can visit it to see the fishing town andchicle tree which produces a product that was consumed like gum because of its sweetness and aroma.

Heading south, 15 minutes from Playa del Carmen will bring you to Puerto Aventuras, where we have resorts, high-end tourist complexes with golf courses to improve your game, tennis clubs and shopping centres.

If you like exploring the sea, we recommend you check out Akumal, where you will find Yalkú Lake, another charming place which is lovely and rustic with its limestone and transparent water. It's an ideal place to snorkel above the reefs. Just a few kilometres away are the cenotes (beautiful inland water holes) of Aktun Chén, with stalactites and stalagmites inside.

What to eat You can enjoy a number of dishes that will delight your taste buds on the Yucatan Peninsula at Riviera Maya. All our hotels in Riviera Maya offer an extensive selection of local and international products in the many themed restaurants where you can eat inside the resort itself. We suggest you try the tacos, poc chuc (meat in citrus marinade), salbutes (puffed deep-fried tortillas), papadzul enchiladas and cheese filling when you visit Riviera Maya. Do you also fancy trying the drink of the gods?

Come and have a ball in Riviera Maya!

    Ruins of Tulum

Set on the Caribbean coast are these Mayan archaeological ruins of major historical value. The ruins of Tulum present a stunning contrast between the rocky areas and the sweeping views over the Caribbean Sea.

    Ruins of Cobá

These archaeological ruins are different from the rest because they are found next to four natural lakes and are not as touristy. After visiting the ruins of Cobá, make sure to drop into one of the lakeside restaurants with their traditional meals.
