Muy buenas las intalaciones muy limpio y bien arreglado todo,

All great but...

I loved my stay every thing was perfect. But for the animation side it was pretty sad. Nothing is done to bright up the solo costomers. I was there alone andit was really boring at night as even the animation team was hardly talking to single peoples. Besides that sad problem, the resort, food and services were so excellent!!!

Lack of consistency of service throughout food and beverage service. Swimming pool in need of cleaning nightly, very bad smell in and around pool area by swim up bar, my son was extremely unwell within 48 hours of swimming in the pool and continued for full 24 hours being sick. Lack of attention to exclusive guests when dining in beach bar and food area. No turndown for 2 days running. Exclusive towels not replaced and had to request twice before actually received. Bars generally ran out of exclusive drinks and always having to wait. Concierge service fabulous but always felt like we were complaining due to so many inconsistencies over stay. Mini bar not always fully stocked had to be requested . Butlers good and attentive with our son but sometimes it was difficult to converse with lack of English so understanding us proved difficult. Last night Pearl went on to 3am which was not acceptable given how close to resort and family rooms. Overall nice resort with some great team but needs a lot of work to ensure consistent.

Good atmosphere

The atmosphere was very relaxing

Un lugar familiar, tranquilo y hermoso

Muy modernas las instalaciones de la habitación, todos los lugares cerca de la playa con la exclusividad para los clientes del club.

Très bon séjour les employés sont souriant tjrs près à aider

It was nice but room leaked water from run above bathroom water

Tout était super bien. Les gens, l ambiance et la nourriture étaient excellente. Par contre, la beauté de la mer (brune) et la quantité de maringouin

Great time

All what we wanted from our holiday relaxed lazy time

Great break.

Really nice resort. Staff are really friendly and make you feel really welcome. Rooms are a little jaded but overall recommend the resort for a great holiday!

Best Decision Ever

We enjoyed our vacation to Catalonia Bavaro Beach tremendously! We enjoyed the benefits of our membership and the attention to every detail. The facilities are beautiful and the beach is stunning and well maintained. The food and drink service was great! We especially love our omelettes in the morning. The themed restaurants were delicious. We celebrated a birthday there and attention was paid to every detail, and our traveling companions were thrilled. The Spa services are great and we visited 4 times in 10 days. (I would have gone everyday but we had booked excursions haha) I can’t say enough good things about the service. We enjoyed every minute! We will be back in January 2020

good resort friendly staff

Average at best!

Arrived at Catalonia resort with excitement and expectations as per what I have read on reviews and picture I’ve seen on their website. We were allocated a dilapidated “Junior suite”, wallpaper peeling off the wall, rusty a/c that could not cool below 26C, and mouldy sofas with no cushion covers. I called reception to complain (especially about the air con), no one came that night. Called again the next day, no show. Finally on the 3rd day, an “engineer” came, spent 10 mins and told us he could not fix it and guest services would us back shortly. Waited 2 hours and fell asleep about 11pm, no call. 4th day I escalated to the holiday agency (representing British Airways), and finally got moved to another apartment that evening. On return from dinner we were shocked to find the room flooded with bath water, which had leaked from the apartment upstairs. This was then reported again to guest services. No one came to resolve that night. Bearing in mind we had already unpacked and repacked and packed again, This was becoming a nightmare holiday. We were finally called back by guest services the next day and for the third time repacked, and moved again to another so called “upgrade/privileged” apartment. This time around the Aircon was working fine, and there were no leaks, however the bathroom window had massive gaps round the edges and could not close properly. By this time we had given up and didn’t bother to report this again as we had already unpacked. To cut a long story short, after being invaded by a multitude of mosquitoes for two nights with had to call guest services again to get them to send the fumigation team in, whilst we use bits of toilet paper to block the gaps around the window. Finally and to summarise, my wife and I selected this result because we are both golfers. On trying to book to play (despite the fact that it was advertised that golf was inclusive) they tried to charge us $90 for each round of golf. This is after we told them that we did not want a buggy or need one as we were going to walk for the exercise. they still insisted on charging $25 each for walking. After a lengthy conversation with the guest services manager and showing her the proof on their websites that golf was inclusive, we managed to get exemption to play a few rounds whilst walking the course. The housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff were friendly the food was okay, some of the restaurants were below par (especially Mikado Japanese). In general the services apart from the room where acceptable, but I did not fly 10 hours from UK for “acceptable”. I would not be going back there personally, and certainly would not be recommending it to anyone I know.

Excellent Resort

We thoroughly enjoyed the resort. Pool was nice, though could have been slightly cooler (almost too warm). Restaurants were nice and tasty, a better variety would be nice for food selection. Casino was small but nice/quaint. Beach had too much seaweed so we didn't go into water much. Activities were nice, would like to see more activities (pool) in morning, such as water aerobics, some games. Most activities by pool started later in the evening (4pm). Shops were nice on resort and we bought plenty of stuff from them. Most staff very helpful/friendly. Our maid did a great job on our room, every day.

Lovely hotel

Recently returned from Catalonia bavaro after our 2 week holiday. Hotel and grounds are beautiful, staff are all friendly. Food and drinks in all areas are great. We stayed in a junior suite which was clean and comfortable although it could do with a bit of tlc in places. There were a few things that could do with being looked at, they were 1. Stop the "concierges" harassing the guests with offers of free gifts to go and try and talk them into signing up for the travelers club. 2. We missed out on activities going on because all the announcements were done in Spanish and French and we are English and didn't understand them. 3. We should be able to split dollars for smaller notes at reception, it's the 1st hotel I've ever stayed when we couldn't do it. It's your staff that miss out on the tips.

Great stay at a great hotel

We traveled as a group of 4 and there is nothing that’s we could say was wrong. Great stay for two weeks! Fantastic food in the al’carte restaurants as well as the buffet restaurant. Rooms were cleaned in daily basis to very good standard as well as the hotel ground was maintained well! Staff were superb, very polite and always smiling at everyone! Will be returning!

Excellent stay

Excellent stay, we loved everything about the hotel, tropical show was marvelous

Overall a nice holiday

Arriving after a long day it was good to know our hotel was only 20 minutes from the airport, check in was speedy and we were taken by golf buggy to our block (24). Each block has 24 rooms, 12 on each side of the block and 4 on each floor (3 floors) We had 2 rooms, both junior suites (which are bigger than any other hotel room we’ve stayed in). Room 1 had 2 double beds, a bathroom with a toilet & shower in. Room 2 had a king size bed, the bathroom had the mirrored wardrobes, sink & bath in. The toilet and shower were in a separate room opposite. The baths were HUGE too. I would say the showers at least need an overhaul, ours was thick with sealant which didn’t hide the black mould, just covered it over, a cockroach appeared out of the plug hole one day, hubby sent him on a trip down the toilet!! The shower tray seemed flimsy and the curtain was cheap & kept getting stuck to me while showering as the cubicle was so tiny. Both rooms had working air con a FREE safe, a coffee machine which we couldn’t work lol, coffee, sugar, hairdryers (they’re poor so bring your own) but only one worked, iron, tv, balcony (one has a hammock) a selection of toiletries and a fridge which will be re stocked if you ask them. The air conditioning units in both rooms leaked a bit, only a tiny bit so we didn’t worry. I over heard someone mentioning the same as they checked out so I guess it’s a common problem. We did mention when we checked out, along with the broken hairdryer. The king size room only had 1 mains plug which proves tricky if you want to charge phones etc. The other room had 3 mains plug sockets. We found the beds to be super comfy, I honestly slept so well every night. The beds are firm, just how we like ours. We brought beach towels with us, wish we had known that the hotel give you pool/beach towels to save the space in our luggage. The buffet restaurant is much the same as any other restaurant of this style, food is fresh, some of which is cooked for you right in front of your eyes-stir fry, omelette and pasta to name a few. The bread is delicious. There’s a good selection for each meal, but some of it is repetitive and I saw some flies on some of the food on the hot plates. If I’m honest, we all struggled at times to find something. One day I settled for pizza and chips both of which were luke warm :-( There are also 4 ‘al a carte’ restaurants which you can visit once per week - Caribbean, Japanese, Italian and Steak house each with a few choices of starter, mains and dessert. We only tried 2 of the restaurants and though the food was better than the buffet restaurant, I found it to be warm and not piping hot but that may have been our bad luck as my family enjoyed the meals! Mosquitoes......we did get a few bites despite wearing a band (Home Bargains £2 rather than £6 on the plane!) regular spraying with Avon’s Skin So Soft dry oil and Boots Soltan Protect & Repel suncare lotion. I think we would have more if we hadn’t protected ourselves. WIFI this is very good indeed and works all over the hotel including in the room. Best of all it’s FREE. The grounds are beautiful and well cared for, there’s lots of lovely tame animals roaming around including storks, ducks, geese, flamingos and turtles in the water/stream. It’s really beautiful and a lovely place to relax. The pool is plenty big enough, it never seemed crowded except maybe by the pool bar (which opens at 10am) It’s also clean. There’s another buffet restaurant by the pool as well as the pool takeaway hut where you can grab a hotdog, burger, pizza, chicken, salad & chips. If you time it right it will have just been made and piping hot. The soft drinks & beer are on tap at this bar so no queuing. The baby/child pool looked lovely & we would have been more than happy for our children to be splashing around in there when they were younger, though there did seem to be a shortage of shade for the sun beds in that area. The beach is stunning and you can walk for at least a mile out to sea and still only be waist deep in water. There is seaweed, they do their best to clear it, it’s not the end of the world or a deal breaker on this holiday, we waded past and fed the fish each day with bread we took from the restaurant. The crepe hut on the beach is a nice touch and worth a visit for both sweet and savoury crepes as is the smoothie bar where they make your smoothies to order. I didn’t see any difference in the way we were treated compared to privileged guests, we couldn’t justify the $20 per person per night to upgrade since we are a family of 4, though it does apparently offer some discounts. The evening entertainment was ok, again it’s much the same as any other resort. There didn’t seem to be anything much going on around the pool during the day but there is a daily list of activities by the buffet restaurant which was huge, so we must have missed the animation team! We were almost caught out by the time share people who are at the entrance of both buffet restaurants, hubby agreed to go along for the free breakfast in the vip area and our girls would receive a goody bag. All we had to do was bring hubbies driving licence and credit card to verify his identity for a free breakfast? I don’t think so!!! There’s often stalls in the square as you go into the buffet restaurant. They do a hard sell, I’m not great at saying no and don’t like being hounded into buying things. They have the opinion that the English are rich! The resort has a few gift shops, mini supermarket (VERY expensive), a small gym, kids club, coffee shop and a medical centre. We called maintenance out twice, both our own doing! Blew the electrics with the hairdryer and put the wrong code on the safe and couldn’t unlock it. They were out within 15 minutes each time and sorted us out We didn’t really go to the casino, only to use the free fruit machine coins they give you so cant comment on that. There’s a huge cross section of nationalities at this hotel, only around 10% were English and the staff are predominantly Spanish speaking so it helps a lot to have even a little Spanish. Check out was also smooth and they sent a golf buggy to collect our cases. Whilst this hotel was absolutely beautiful, the grounds stunning and the staff awesome I’m afraid I wouldn’t come back because of the food.....if they sorted out the temperature of the food then we would definitely return.

Excelente!! Las facilidades, los empleados, Delia y sus compañeros todos. Los mejores

Regresaría otra vez. Uno de los mejores hoteles visitados!!

UPDATE to my Tripadvisor review titled 'Slow Start' submitted July 2019

Glad to say things did improve. To reiterate previous comments, the hotel grounds and landscaping are fantastic. The gardeners do an amazing job. The water areas and beds by the front of the hotel are great. How often do you get to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner surrounded by turtles, fish, ducks, herons, flamingos, etc. You can’t be too picky and have to understand the service can be a little relaxed at times. One other point to note is the presence of mosquitoes. The majority of our group got affected in the second week post following some very heavy rain so take whatever you need to protect yourself. All in all a good place. Have a look at alternatives but you won’t be disappointed if you do come here.

Week in paradise

Hotel spełnia wszystkie oczekiwania. Obsługa miał i uprzejma oraz co najważniejsze sprawna w działaniu

My parents have been coming to this resort for 5 years and we have now made this a family tradition. From the minute you step foot on the resort, the staff is constantly striving to make sure that you are having an incredible time. We were greeted each morning asking about how our stay was, to ensure we didn’t need anything, and to make dinner reservations for later in the day. I couldn’t ask for a more accommodating staff with the Exclusive Traveller Club. We were already making plans for our next trip to this beautiful beach resort because we had such a great time yet agin. Thank you Catalonia Bavaro!

It was okay

Eddie ay bar was the best
