Great as always

This was our 6th time there and there’s a reason we’ll keep going back! Staff was awesome as always as was the rest of the hotel and the beach!

Quiet relaxing getaway

We enjoyed this hidden treasure!

January Stay 2021

Very impressed with all. Nice beach, great and friend staff, and food was some of the best I've had at a resort.

Friends trip

Had a great time- staff was awesome, drinks and food were great, would come back!

quiet and natural

This was our second stay. We appreciate the location, the lack of a cement beach and the natural view of palm trees. Nice and friendly service. (A few friends from the previous stay)

Beautiful hotel and amazing beach

Our stay was amazing. First, our gratitude to the front desk clerk for putting us in a priviledge room although we could not use the priviledge restaurant and services. No problem, the hotel has enough to offer, you sure feel priviledge without having to pay extra. Room was good, grounds beautiful, beach outstanding... the hotel is located next to Hotel Esencia, a boutique hotel featured in many travelling magazines ranging $2.550-$4.500 the night! The flora and fauna of the place is one of the best features of the hotel. On the other hand, food is ok, I wish they had more local cuisine. Maybe what guests want is more local or other Mexican food and not American/European food to which we have access all year long. Overall, food was quite forgettable. Entertainment was alright I guess for someone who enjoys that type of stuff which I find generally tacky. Our stay was during New Years Eve and Reyes and we found that many restaurants were closed on certain days but we were never notified of those changes. No biggie. We were also told that they did it because there were a third of the number of guests they usually have, strange this times of pandemia... Now, I must tell about one incident that somewhat marred our experience and puts things in perspective. On our last night, an intoxicated young man (20's) punched a window resulting in a really serious cut of what looked an artery (there was massive loss of blood). The other guests told the front desk staff to call an ambulance, the police, to fetch the first aid kit.... Well, there was no ambulance available, the police arrived and did NADA, the first aid kit was a joke, the staff was uncooperative..... Luckily one of the guests was a NP and was able to apply a tourniquet, the kid was out of it in shock bleeding to death. Other guests had to call a taxi to take him to the hospital, the first question of the guy behind the reception was if they had the money to pay for it ?$#!!! Guest put out the frigging $25 that the taxi cost.... I mean, one of your guest is dying and you let the other guests take care of him and you do nothing nor you show any concern for his safety?!?! I strongly recommend the hotel to have some kind of safety protocol put in place for this type of events. That was a shame.

A great get-away

A great adult-only/all-inclusive property situated between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Easy to take a taxi to either location if you choose to go off-property.

Couldn’t ask for a better vacation!

Love the facility and the staff were great. The only thing that could be improved is the quality of food and availability of food. It consistently takes greater than 2 hours to get room service if you miss access to lunch or breakfast elsewhere

Great experience!

We enjoyed the resort, both the beach and pool area. It was lovely to walk through the resort in the trees and mangroves. The Coati, Yucatan Jay's and other animals were all around. BLoved saved the day with exceptional food for every meal. Sorrento was great for snacks and lunch. Adelita's was a hidden gem - it's too bad it is so hidden and hard to tell it is there behind that huge door. The rest were just okay and left something to be desired. I would only do this again using the Privilege benefits and ability to eat at BLoved! :-) The staff everywhere were incredible. Kind, attentive, helpful. The AmStar rep pushed us to tours he has clearly been coached to sell but we pressed for the one we wanted and were delighted when we went. There was one incident in the room next to ours where it seems someone got into their room and their own key would not work. Late at night and a bit scary. We also had our room door left open after cleaning one day only and that is a bit concerning - they need to be careful and check that it has been securely closed. The rooms were sparkling clean as were all areas of the resort. The room safe was low on battery, the balcony light was burnt out , the lamp shades were stained and old and in need of replacing and one of the bedside lights was disconnecting from the wall and not as strong of a light as the other side of the bed. Basic maintenance. If we hung towels or washcloths up with the intent to reuse, they were taken and replaced. Half-full rolls of toilet paper were replaced too. This seems to be a wasteful practice and uses unnecessary product and water and costs the resort money. Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing experience and loved the resort!

amazing staff

Had stayed at another Catalonia resort in the Dominican. This hotel is very different from any hotel I've ever stayed at. Like how they preserved the natural forest ecology and incorporated it into their design. Staff is AMAZING. They are attentive and overall very pleasant.

Catalonia Royal Tulum

Belle semaine , même en temps de covid, nous sentons et voyons que le personnel est très préoccupé de notre bien être

Excellent hotel with a wonderful location

A fabulous path to the coast through the mangrove forest. Super beach with a wonderful reef and an abundance of marine life. A great place for snorkeling - other tourists are brought to this beach. Friendly staff and delicious cuisine.

Great Stay

I'll make it simple..... You really cannot go wrong here. Beautiful setting, beautiful beach. The resort is small and very quiet. Perfect for a romantic getaway....and a nice change from the mega-resorts like the Principe and the Barcelo. It's all about wht you want. If you want smaller/quieter/more romantic....choose this hotel.

Christmas Getaway

Great place, amazing staff. Beach was awesome. Private and romantic.

Best all inclusive

I’ve been in Mexico many times, Cancun, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta and stayed mostly at 5-star all inclusive. This is a 4-star and it greatly surpassed my expectations. It’s super clean, beautiful green property. The food is superb, fresh fish and seafood daily at every restaurant we’ve been to (not premium package). Drinks of any kind, of course better when you tip. The beach is absolutely gorgeous, very well kept with new chairs, palm trees, white sand and clear turquoise water. You also get kayaks for free and can get PADI certified right on the property. Diving instructor is very professional and courteous. In my opinion the only thing that needs improvement is entertainment, maybe it’s because of Covid but some bands playing were not that great. Also dj was playing Metallica way too much.

Good relaxing time.

I came for the beach and to relax. I was able to do both.

Vacation in Tulum

We stayed only for 3 nights but we had the best time! The accommodations were amazing and everyone was so helpful! The beach area was so beautiful! Wish we had more time there!

Everything was great!

We had a wonderful stay! The beach was absolutely beautiful. Staff was very friendly, and the resort was spotless! Only thing we would recommend is improving the food.

Megan Langel21-12-20

The service of the staff was impeccable. Kind beyond words and truly genuine in all of their actions from greetings to goodbyes. The restaurant staff especially were incredible. This was my first time to Mexico and will not be my last thanks to the impression left by the staff.

Great Resort with some areas for improvement

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum in December of 2020. Our experience was mostly positive, with a few areas for improvement. The resort is beautiful and well-maintained and we loved the lush, tropical setting and vibe. The food was consistently good to very good and the service was excellent. Most of the staff we came in contact with were very friendly and pleasant and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and pampered. A special mention to the lovely woman who is the greeter at La Palapa (her name begins with Q). She was the nicest person we met all week. She even remembered my name and used it every day. I don't know how she does that with all of the people she meets! The best part of the resort, of course, is the beautiful beach! And the amusing and adorable coati that roam the resort. The entertainment was very good and we especially loved the Mexican dancers and the 2 bands. I admit, though, I was disappointed that there was not a Mariachi band on the night that said "Mariachi night". But the band was very good and we enjoyed them, even if they were not a Mariachi band as promised. There are some areas for improvement that I will mention in the hopes you will improve these things and make the resort even better. Portion size at restaurants was inconsistent. Usually portions were adequate, but at times the portions were so tiny, we were shocked. For example, I ordered Seafood Ravioli as an entree (not an appetizer) at the Italian restaurant, and was served a portion of 3 small ravioli. The portions at BLoved were too small too. There were other times during our stay where plates were delivered to us with portions very small, perhaps 3 bites of food. Other areas for improvement: the pool should be heated in the winter as it is uncomfortably cold. Just a few degrees warmer would be good. In my experience 85 - 87 degrees Farenheit is a good temperature. Guests should be allowed to bring food to the beach. We would have loved to have some chips and guacamole while sitting on the beach. Please improve the quality of your drink mixers. The ones you are using are not good. I had a strawberry daquiri that was undrinkable as it tasted like cough medicine and other mixed drinks tasted a bit artificial. Another improvement that would be great is if you had a beach towel station at the pool so we could exchange our wet towels for dry ones. The only way to get them now is to take them to the room and call a room attendant, which is rather bothersome. You wouldn't even need a staff person to be stationed at the towel station, just someone to replenish them. We could help ourselves. (This is what they do on cruise ships). Another thing that would be helpful is to provide information about which restaurants are open every night. We didn't see signs posted anywhere and we had to inquire at the front desk to find out where we could go to dinner. Finally, it would be great to have a nicer quality of sheets, pillows and blankets. The ones you currently use are fairly low quality compared to other hotels and resorts I have been to. If you make those improvements, I think the resort will be just about perfect!

Always and Still the best!

This was our 8th Visit to CRT. It has changed a little over the years, but is still our favorite piece of the world. I think the food was better than ever, and the remodeled rooms are nice and comfortable. Cleaned early and well by housekeeping, who always fulfilled my little requests. No worries about covid 19, I felt safer at CRT than I do in my own home town. Never saw a soul on the staff without a mask, and we would get up and walk the property at 6:30 am. Staff headed to work always had a friendly greeting for us. We did not do privilege upgrade, menu at BLoved just isn't our taste, but we felt no less privileged than any other guests. Favorite is steakhouse and Sorrento lunch grill. Simple tasty food served with a smile and lots of drinks! We will be back again!

Covid Escape

Overall our experience was great. We were there Dec 9-16, 2020. It was disappointing that everything wasn't open until the day we were leaving. The hotel, pool and public restrooms were very clean and well maintained. The evening towel service was very nice. The staff was awesome!!! The beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs in the sun and the shade. The food was okay, except for the omelet bar and she was fantastic, as well as the hostess at the breakfast buffet.

Amazing service, food and beach!

For me service, cleanliness and food are the most important items for any resort and CRT does amazing with all three! The beach is immaculate and maintained daily. Pool is nice but a bit on the chilly side. Entertainment is a bit lacking and drinks are mediocre. The resort is more for relaxing than partying and they do a great job making it an amazing place to come and relax. Highly recommend paying a little more for Privilege mainly for Bloved. The food there is excellent and setting is amazing. We were celebrating my fiancé’s birthday as well and they did a great job making her feel special with surprises in the room and at dinner!

Everyone here was so friendly and accommodating and kind. We had a wonderful stay here. Everything was clean and beautiful.
