There is no better point to start your visit to the city from our hotels in Madrid than Kilometer Zero, located in Puerta del Sol, considered the most famous square in Madrid. Did you know that the main roads in Spain start from here? In this square you will also find The Bear and the Strawberry Tree, a symbol that appears on the city's coat of arms, as well as the Royal Post Office, the current Town Hall.

The visit continues to the Teatro Real, famous for its opera. Nearby you will find the Royal Palace, former residence of the kings, where you can visit the Sabatini Gardens and the Almudena Cathedral. The Madrid of the Austrias will begin when you enter Calle Mayor. In the Plaza Mayor you can soak up the most characteristic atmosphere of the city, which originally served as the main market.

On the so-called Paseo del Arte or Paseo del Prado, you will have the opportunity to visit some of the best museums in Europe. If you are an art lover, you cannot miss the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and the Reina Sofía Museum of Contemporary Art. At the end of the walk is the Plaza de Cibeles, known for being the site of Real Madrid sports celebrations, and then the famous Puerta de Alcalá, one of the five gates that gave access to the city. Next to it is the Retiro Park, the green lung of the capital, which offers large gardens and a lake where you can relax in the middle of the urban maelstrom.

On Gran Vía you will see the most commercial and tourist side of Madrid, with musical shows, theater and cinemas that illuminate the city every night. Don't miss the Plaza de España either, with a fountain dedicated to Miguel de Cervantes. To finish the monumental tour of Madrid, go to the enigmatic Temple of Debod, a gift from Egypt after helping this country save some of its temples.

Madrid gastronomy has Castilian influences, with hearty and flavorful dishes that you can taste in our hotels in Madrid. Try the Madrid stew tapas and tripe or, if you are more of a snack person, the squid sandwich. For breakfast, churros or porras with hot chocolate are typical and, for dessert, torrijas.
