The Rain in Cancun falls mainly during my stay

The hotel and their staff were mostly above average. The food, however, was not. You can blame it on the pandemic, perhaps, but most restaurants that I wanted to visit on-site were not easily accessible. I expected more authentic meals but was disappointed. I don't think that this will be a place that I will visit again. Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful but it was like dating a beautiful women/man without a personality.

Can’t wait to Return

I’m hesitant to write a review since I want to keep this gem a secret, but alas I figured others need to know. Luis is an excellent bar tender who will remember your name after one time and will make you laugh your entire trip. The ceviche station became our number one place to stop for lunch…and again for an afternoon snack. The buffet has your traditional pieces, but also steps up with avocado toast in the morning to poke in the evening. If I had one suggestion it would be to have more umbrellas on the beach. Otherwise sign me up for another trip!

Gorgeous Resort

Catalonia is a beautiful, peaceful, secluded resort. We enjoyed our stay, especially the beach and the great restaurants and food. My one complaint would be the lack of availability to pool/beach towels. The should be available at the pool.

Amazing Stay!

We spent 7 nights at Catalonia for our honeymoon and enjoyed every second. We ventured out one day to visit Isla Mujeres, but would have been perfectly content not leaving the resort. We had a privileged swim-up suite, which was perfect. The room was spacious, clean, and it was great to have a private pool when the main pools felt too crowded. Due to covid, only certain food options were available, but we never felt like we didn't have a great variety. Multiple options were open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they varied daily. I highly recommend upgrading to a privilege option, so you have access to Bloved. They had amazing food at all meals. For dinner, I highly recommend The Grill. They had the best food and the service was fantastic (especially our servers Alejandro and Luis!!). We would return simply to go back to The Grill. The food options along 5th Avenue are set up more like a food court, with meals cooked to order. These options weren't as tasty as Bloved or The Grill, but they are meant to be faster options and were still pretty good and they offer a good variety, though the selections don't change daily. We loved that there are two pools, both with different atmospheres, so we could alternate. There is a place by the beach where you can book jet skis, boat trips, and other activities, which is where we booked out boat trip to Isla Mujeres. That convenience was a huge plus. There are also activities, like live music, karaoke, and other shows. We got a couples massage at the spa from Ana and Leticia who were amazing! The massage also got us access to the wet spa area, with a sauna and beautiful pool that overlooks the ocean. We were concerned by some of the negative reviews in the days leading up to our trip, but we had nothing but good experiences. I think a lot of the negative reviews come from people that are choosing to ignore the cost difference between Catalonia and other local 5-star resorts. Yes, it is a 5-star resort, but chances are you aren’t paying what you would to stay at other options, like the Ritz, and that will obviously be reflected in the experience and the quality of certain things. We witnessed some guests complaining about ridiculous things, beyond anyone’s control, and while I’m sure some of the reviews are justified, don’t let them deter you from visiting Catalonia and keeping an open mind.

Amazing Resort!!!

First off if you are having any doubts about if you should book here or not I’m here to ease your mind!!! I went back and forth about where I should stay. I drove myself and my husband crazy because I just couldn’t decide... should I stay in the Hotel Zone, Playa Del Carmen etc!!! Well let me tell you picking the Catalonia Costa Mujeres was the best decision I’ve could have made. The resort is so beautiful, the workers are Amazing, and the food was delicious. There were some workers that went above and beyond!!! My room was cleaned everyday, even when I forgot to turn my light on, by the beautiful Marbella!!! Mr. Juan, Guadalupe, Roasalie, and the Bartender Jason at The Grill restaurant were heaven sent and made me feel like 5 stars every time I encountered them! I can’t forget Christian at the privilege beach bar, he made me the best Margaritas!!! Also Juan at the pool bar was so accommodating and gave me whatever I asked for!!! I can’t leave out the lobby bar tender, the workers at the mini market, also the spa workers and bell men!! They all made my vacation 5 star!!! You live and you learn so I have a few tips. Because of COVID, restaurants rotate when they are open. You can screenshot a picture of what’s open and when they are open using a qrcode in your room. If you wanna eat somewhere that is a sit down nice place such as the Grill get there at 6 and put your name on the list... hibachi only take 24 people at a time, that’s the Japanese place I would suggest you get there at least 5. Also as far as the rooms I would get the room with a swim up pool. Waking up to that view literally made my day!!! Also make sure you book a privilege room, it is worth every penny... stop second guessing yourself and boom now!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Great time in Cancun

The facility was beautiful and very clean. We enjoyed our stay very much. I would have preferred to give you a 3 1/2 stars rather than 4 due to the dining situation. The choices of eating venues was not what was advertised and disappointing to have to eat at the same restaurant frequently. This would not have been too bad except that the menu choices were limited so you really did not have much choice from night to night. The quality of the food was good for the most part but not always. Never would I have said it was great. Drinks at the swim up bars were weak. More positively the staff was super friendly and very nice. The rooms were very comfortable and the swim up pool was a plus!

Catalonia Costa Mujeres "Emerging From Pandemic"

We experienced Catalonia Costa Mujeres in late May as everyone was starting to emerge from a year of pandemic life. The resort is very new, and the style is of a more modern appeal. The staff is extremely hospitable, and Ali & Juan are the epitome of gracious hosts! The beds are not as comfortable as the brand of "Catalonia" would lead you to believe, but the overall room layout is very well done. The restaurants are gorgeous in design, but due to the pandemic, the staff seems a little awkward in handling the returning crowds.

Great Place to Stay

This was my first time out of the United States so I was a little bit nervous. NOT ONCE did I feel unsafe. The resort was affordable and so amazing in every aspect. Great food, great staff, and tons to do. Plus you're super close to the beach. I also loved how they had two pools. One was more family friendly and the other catered to the party crowd. I definitely recommend staying here!

Rocky stay

Our room at the resort was the nicest room we have had in 30+ trips to Mexico. We stayed Privileged Swim Out Suite. The plunge pool was spacious and clean. The room was well appointed with a nice bathroom and separated living/bedroom area. Beloved restaurant was delicious and the service was exceptional. Staying privileged at many other resorts, disappointed in the lack of top shelf liquors available at this resort. The restaurant menus lacked the fresh seafood options generally available and no appetizers beyond guacamole and chips. The buffet had several stations available but the choices NEVER changed. Room service was available to privileged guests only during this visit. Hit and miss if it arrived hot, or even warm. COVID has a lot to do with many of these issues. Resort seemed very under staffed. Long wait for cocktails and no table service in lobby or pool areas. Overall, a very nice resort with much potential. The beach is soft sand and no rocks. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel was spectacular the food in all of the restaurants were fabulous the waiters were excellent. The pools were amazing and the ocean beautiful. We are members and it was the first time visiting this hotel the only problem and it was a BIG ONE was Luis and Alix(Girl) allowed BLUE BANDS in the Beloved restaurant it is for Members and Privilege ONLY we got 3 different stories as to why this happened. Why become a member if they allow anyone to go to Beloved???

Cool get away

Overall happy. The food was great all the restaurant. Me personally wish for better desert. Wish they had more entertainment that would involve the people . The traffic is terrible doe especially if you have plans on going on a tour or visit Tulum, Zip lineing 4runnders etc if they say it takes about an hour they are lying to get to other areas of the cities add about 2 hrs an 1hour and 45min is just traffic . So stay at the hotel unless all your adventures you want are very very close.. Again the Hotel stay was great .

Fabulous Resort in so many ways!

My husband and I recently stayed at Catalonia Costa Mujeres for 8 nights and we wish it had been much longer. It was a smaller resort than these mega ones that are so huge to get around or feel intimate. This had a great intimate feel to it and extremely easy to navigate after the first night. The Staff were all extremely friendly and happily eager to help with any needs you may have. I have been to many all inclusives and Catalonia Costa Mujeres has over all very good food and many choices. Due to low occupancy they did not have the Buffet open for most dinners, but when it was open it had excellent food. far better than most buffets I have been too in Mexico. They had most restaurants open to go to at your desired time~~ for a large part reservations were not needed when the resort was quiet. My favorite was Beloved which had fabulous fish. The Beach was the most beautiful never ending stretch of sand I have ever seen. Deep, white, fine sand went on and all in all directions (including in the water~~ no rocks at all.) If you are a walker you could walk and walk in both directions for miles. There were many many sun loungers on beach in addition to a great beach bar, and another one that was not even open due to low occupancy, but I am sure they will open if busier. Gregorio was a great and very experienced bartender. There was a pool bar at each of the pools, plus a lobby bar. This resort is in a newer area to be developed and if you are interested in lots of activities outside of the resort it is a little isolated. A day trip to Isla Majeures (island of the woman) is a nice one to take. You can get a taxi to the ferry, spend the day shopping, beach going at the beautiful beaches on the Island and many great lunch spots in the little town. If you are a beach lover and do not need lots of other excitement besides sunbathing, eating, walking and a few margaritas of course~ this is the place for you!! My only possible issue was the bed was a little hard for my back that had surgery recently, but if I had asked for extra padding to be brought I am sure they would have obliged. Being non tech savy, and usually travel without a phone having to use QR to see the menu was very odd to us, but we got the hang of it. Having a menu to look at as an option would have been easier. Thank you Catalonia Costa Mujeres! I will be returning !! :)
